Bima Mkononi - Personal Insurance for Tigo Customers

Customer:

Accessing life and hospitalization insurance has never been easier. Bima Mkononi enables Tigo customers to quickly and easily enroll in the insurance coverage of their choice, right from their mobile phone.

A Health Policy: providing customers with a comprehensive health package; an inpatient hospitalization insurance and a lump sum benefit for bone fractures or breaks.

A Life & Disability Policy: provides financial support to policy holders and their beneficiaries in the event of the death and/or disability of the policy holder

Subscribers enjoy a single “flat” premium for all applicants 18-69 years old. Enrollment is paperless, takes only a few minutes, and subscribers can pay with Tigo Pesa or with cash at any Tigo customer service center.

Coverage Plans and Premiums

1- HOSPITALIZATION AND BONE FRACTURE INSURANCE - Milvik Bima Ya Kulazwa

Up to 12,600,000 TSh cover

Milvik Bima Ya Kulazwa protects you and your family in case you are admitted to a hospital as an inpatient or at an instance of a bone fracture. The cover also supports on medication and annual health screen

Price of Insurance:

Rates:

  • Starting from 4,500 per month to 25,000. Varies with family size and tier

Sum Assured:

  • From TZS 1,900,000 to TZS 12,600,000 Annual limit depending on family size and tier

Terms & Conditions:

  • Commencement date & Waiting Periods
    • Insurance cover starts from the first day of the next month following successful payment of premium
    • Pre-existing conditions or chronic illness before the insurance cover the waiting period is 6 Months after policy registration.
    • For maternity, the waiting period is 9 Months.
  • Age
    • For the adult, the minimum age at entry is 18 years, the maximum age at entry is 64 years. The maximum age for cover is 69.
    • For the children, the minimum age at entry is from birth (after discharge from hospital where the mother gave birth), the maximum age at entry is 17 years. The cover will cease when the child reaches 18 years and can register as an adult

Lives Insured:

  • Single Life Cover: An Individual
  • Joint Life Cover: An individual and an Insured relative (Spouse)
  • Family Cover: Family nucleus - an individual, a spouse and their children
  • Family Plus Cover: Extended family – an individual, a spouse, their children, their parents and parent-in-laws
  • There is no limit on the number of children that can be included on family policies

Claims:

  • You will have [3] months from the claims event to notify us of any claim. You will then have a further [3] months to submit all required documentation. If you fail to submit the required documentation to process the claim, the claim will be closed. Payment will be made upon receipt of required documents.
  • The accepted Identification documents at the point of claims are: Voters ID, National ID card, Driver’s license and Passport, Birth certificate or legal guardianship certificate (for children)
  • Evidence of Hospitalization
    • Discharge summary (up to 5 nights in hospital) OR
    • Full medical report (> 5 nights in hospital)
    • EFD Receipt or Inpatient/Itemized bill
    • Evidence of Fracture/Break
    • Doctor’s report/note OR
    • Full medical report
    • EFD Receipt or Inpatient/Itemized bill

Exclusions:

  • No Benefit will be payable if the incident causing claim was indirectly caused or accelerated by any of the following events:
  • War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether war be declared or not), civil war, mutiny, strike, riot, civil commotion, military rising, insurrection, rebellion, conspiracy, revolution, military or usurped power, martial law, state of siege, any event or because that determine the proclamation or maintenance of martial law or state of siege;
  • Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Risks and losses;
  • Suicide or self-inflicted injury
  • Elective/cosmetic surgery
  • Alcohol abuse/illegal drug use

2- LIFE AND DISABILITY INSURANCE - Milvik Bima Ya Maisha

Up to 16,000,000 TSh cover

Bima Mkononi Life and Disability provides you with lump sum benefit in the event of death of insured life for any reason as well as lump sum benefit in the event of total, partial or minor disability for any reason. The lump sum paid on disability cover varies depending on whether total, partial or minor disability

Price of Insurance:

Rates:

  • Starting from 4,500 per month to 17,000. Varies with family size and tier

Sum Assured:

  • Life Cover – TZS 2M, 3M or 4M depending on tier selected
  • Disability Cover (depending on tier selected)
  • Total permanent disability - 100% of disability sum assured (TZS 2M, 3M OR 4M)
  • Partial permanent disability - 50% of disability sum assured (TZS IM, 1.5M OR 2M)
  • Minor permanent disability – 10% of disability sum assured (TZS 200K, 300K OR 400K)

  • You will have [6] months from the date of death or from the date the disability showed to notify us of any claim. You will then have a further [3] months to submit all required documentation. If you fail to submit the required documentation to process the claim, the claim will be closed. Payment will be made upon receipt of required documents:

Identification Document:

  • The accepted Identification documents at the point of claims are: Voters ID, National ID card, Driver’s license and Passport
  • Evidence of death: Death Certificate. Burial permit may be needed as additional documentation
  • Evidence of disability: Doctor’s report/note.
