The items were handed over here today to the victims by Tigo South Zone Director Jackson Kiswaga who underscored the company’s commitment to stand by the people of this country in happiness and during difficult moments.
“We are here to join other well-wishers in sympathizing with those affected by this natural disaster and to wish them quick recovery from the great loss of their loved ones and material property,” Kiswaga said.
The items donated by Tigo include 350 galvanized roofing sheets, 30 mattresses and 35 bed sheets.
The rains in the two wards left 1,155 people homeless as crops and homesteads were destroyed or swept away by the floods, according to Iringa regional commissioner Hon. Amina Masenza.
Tigo’s donation, according to Kiswaga, is part of the company’s corporate responsibility, a policy commitment to invest part of the company’s resources in community development programs and in emergency responses.
