The Tigo desks donation initiative is dubbed: ‘Dawati kwa kila mwanafunzi ni msingi wa elimu bora; Fiesta 2016 kwa Kishindo cha Tigo Elimu bora, Imooooo!’
Speaking at the handover ceremony held at Bwiru Primary School in Mwanza region, Tigo Lake Zone Director, Ally Maswanya, said that shortage of desks in primary schools has been identified as one of the factors affecting learning ability as well as performance of pupils in many of our public schools.
“We are committed to ensure that the learning environment in our primary schools is improved and we are excited that FIESTA 2016 season is impacting the future generation who are primary schools pupils by ensuring that they no longer sit on the ground. We believe that the donation will go a long way in helping the pupils achieve their dreams of becoming future leaders due to increased comfort and concentration in their studies”, Maswanya said.
The handover was witnessed by Mwanza Regional Commissioner John Mongela who said the 385 desks will greatly improve the learning condition for children in the region calling upon other well-wishers to come forward and join the effort to offset the remaining shortage of desks in the region.
Mongela listed the primary schools that will receive the desks as Nakoza(29), Uhuru(40), Busangu(41),Bukongo(30), Nansio(30), Namagubho(30), Mkuyuni(65) Chambanda(60) and Bwiru(60) .
We sincerely want to thank Tigo for supporting us in our effort to offset the existing shortage of desks in primary schools in Mwanza region. We believe these 385 desks will go a long way in enabling hundreds of children, a conducive learning environment needed for their success in their education.” said Mongela.
